Henry-Léopold Tabourin founded his champagne house, Veuve J. Lanaud in Avize in 1919. He chose to call it that in homage to his widowed mother, Marie-Joséphine Lanaud.
In 1987, Mr. and Mrs. Gauthier decided to buy the Champagne Lanaud premises and cellars. They then chose to keep the name of the house, as well as its emblem: the eagle overlooking the letters VJL. At that time, the brothers, Edouard and Jonathan, had their own farms. After some time, the sons decided to link their operations to the house purchased by their parents and founded a single tax company that they have managed since 2008: SAS Gauthier.
